Who am I?

My name is Caelen Plischke. I am a student at the University of Manitoba currently pursuing a career in education, focusing on French and English literature. I graduated the French Immersion program with honours and decided to use my knowledge to provide to the next generation. I have worked in daycares, tutoring centres, and day camps in both French and English. In my experience, I have noticed a staggering gap in French tutoring, with many tutoring companies offering French speaking staff, but no dedicated French programs. I want to change that!

About me

My experience

In 2021, my career in education and child care started in volunteering to tutor music with the LSRFMPB. which I continue to do today. This opportunity allowed me the privilege to work in a daycare as a summer employment student in 2022. From there, I began a year long employment with a tutoring company, where I taught various topics to children aged anywhere from 5 to 17 years old. Now, I work for a company called Canadian Parents for French, a national non-profit charitable organization which seeks to engage communities in French language and culture.

What I strive for is the success of any child in French. When I was younger, I never wanted to use French ever again. But in my life, it has been the key to my career and experiences as both a professional and a person. French use in Canada is on the rise, but the only way that continues is with more youth leaving school with an appreciation and understanding of French and its uses. I possess a valid criminal record check and child abuse check, which is updated frequently as part of my job outside of tutoring.
